Invasive plants have been a fact of life for years in the lower Connecticut River and its coves, with remediation or eradication being in the hands of the many volunteer organizations active in land, water and wildlife preservation. The arrival of Hydrilla in the inner and outer cove is becoming a major issue, if not dealt with, although a solution has yet to be confirmed, after field trials by the Army Corps of Engineers. Members are asked to attend a meeting at Lyme Public Hall on April 23rd at 7pm to represent the clubs interest in field trials planned for the coming season in the cove. For those wishing to understand better the threat this video explains it.
